Megabangna leads the way for eco-friendly operations

With eight years of ongoing efforts and EUR 27 million invested in the cause, our Megabangna shopping centre in Thailand is progressing with energy conservation projects and the addition of green spaces in and around the shopping centre.

Clean air and less CO2 emissions

In 2013, we banned all use of cooling chemicals in our building to reduce health risks, increase safety for staff, and reduce environmental impact. We installed nearly 4,000 solar panels on our roof. They produce about 1.43 million kilowatts of electricity per year, reducing carbon dioxide emissions of up to 716,000 kilograms per year. We partnered with air conditioning powerhouse, Train Thailand in 2015, to improve efficiency and reduce electricity consumption of our air conditioning system by more than 20%.

Finding your zen
Our Mega FoodWalk offers families places to eat and relax nestled in an architecturally designed setting of lush mountain ranges, with rocks, streams and waterfalls. To this, we added a large natural playground with a stream valley and sand dunes set in a beautiful garden atmosphere, which is a rarity in the bustling city. Rather than using this area for commercial purposes, we chose to utilize this space for positive recreational areas that are open and free for people in our community to use.
