Responsibilities
You have just started working at Ikano. A friend asks you if the company supports any charities or other social initiatives.
You realise you don’t really know.
What do you do?
Ikano’s response
Ikano supports several social initiatives and charities, and we celebrate engagement days across our businesses. We take responsibility for the impact we have on the communities in which we operate. That goes for our planet too. We make an extra effort to support selected social initiatives, where our help can make a difference. We strive to contribute to a sustainable future in every aspect of our business.
Nobody´s perfect
You and your team order a big batch of reusable bags, which are to be sold in IKEA stores all around the country.
But yikes! When the bags are delivered, you realise you made a mistake, and the printed website address on the bag is wrong.
Ikano’s response
We know that mistakes happen. And when they do, we love to learn from them. We take responsibility together and if possible, we transform the mishaps into something positive. To ‘think outside the box’ may sound like a cliché … but that is pretty much what it is all about.
Night time email
When checking your phone, you notice that an email from a colleague from another time zone has just arrived.
Where you are it’s evening. You don’t know how urgent the email is.
What do you do?
Ikano’s response
We always respond when a colleague reaches out. However, we also know the importance of a good work-life balance. We respect each other’s free time. You can of course choose to reply immediately – that is up to you. But we generally do not expect our colleagues to respond outside regular working hours.
A helping hand
You are working on a project. You have run into some difficulties, and it is not going as great as you would like it to.
You learn that a team based at another Ikano company is working on something similar.
What do you do?
Ikano’s response
We have a caring and inclusive work atmosphere where people share experience and knowledge, communicate openly and honestly, and inspire each other. We believe in re-using good solutions instead of reinventing the wheel, but we also believe in acknowledging and thanking our colleagues for their work.
Process review
A new company presents an idea of how to work with home deliveries, at a lower price for the customer.
You realise that by changing supplier and work methods, you can save costs.
How do you proceed?
Ikano’s response
A cost-conscious mindset is important. But at Ikano, we look at the long-term impact of the choices we do. We constantly review our solutions and how we work with customers, partners, communities and co-workers. Fair terms are essential to us. Therefore, we always ask why one solution is cheaper than another.
The elevator
On your way to a meeting, you step into the office elevator. A couple of colleagues from other departments are already inside.
They all seem busy, and nobody says “hi”.
Ikano’s response
Even the smallest gesture add up to who you are. We all share the responsibility to live our values – even when it comes to smaller everyday interactions.
Curiousity and courage
A salesperson from a startup company presents a new digital tool for data analysis. There are some interesting features that really stand out from what you’ve seen before.
But it is also overloaded with functions that aren’t needed.
How do you proceed?
Ikano’s response
We are driven by curiosity. We think it is great when people share their entrepreneurial spirit and tell us about their innovations. We embrace change – if we need to do something differently to do it better, then let’s. And in our search for better ways to work, we often start by asking “why?”, to challenge established ways and push innovation forward.
Working smarter
In a meeting, a colleague presents a new process for working with customer feedback.
The solution seems time-consuming, and you get an idea on how to simplify.
What do you do?
Ikano’s response
At Ikano, we believe that good thinking belongs out in the open. We have a caring and inclusive work atmosphere where people share experience and knowledge, communicate openly and honestly, and inspire each other. We always look for ways to work smarter and welcome new ideas. So, if you got one, let’s hear it.
