Helping customers live a more sustainable life
More and more people are looking for more sustainable living solutions, but it’s not always easy to know where to start. To help them on their way, IKEA Bangna in Thailand launched a Sustainable Living Shop in 2024 to increase IKEA sustainability awareness among its customers in Thailand.
Located at the end of the showroom floor, right between the Children’s department and the Swedish restaurant, IKEA Bangna’s Sustainable Living Shop offers affordable products, tips and ideas for customers looking to make small changes for the environment.
The shop focuses on five key areas throughout the room setting:
- Promoting well-being
- Reducing waste
- Reducing energy use
- Reducing water use
- Prolonging furniture life
The room settings showcase different IKEA products that help customers be more sustainable as well as save money, such as water saving taps and cooling products that help the many people in Thailand sleep more comfortably while also saving energy.
Refurbished pieces are also on display, showing how easy it is to give our IKEA products a new life with just a few small improvements. IKEA Bangna also held workshops for their IKEA Family customers, showing how to mend, adjust and repurpose their IKEA furniture – ultimately helping keep products in the home and out of landfills for as long as possible.
The Sustainable Living Shop at IKEA Bangna is just the start – four more are in the pipeline and many other sustainability initiatives are taking place all around IKEA stores in Ikano Retail’s markets. In Singapore, for example, its IKEA stores offer Sustainability Starter Kits that help people easily adopt eco-friendly habits (that are also friendly on their wallets).
They four kits are focused on energy saving, food on the go, food storage, and waste sorting. These included easy-to-use items that seamlessly fit into any home, requiring minimal effort to implement.
We all share the same planet and the same responsibility to take care of it for generations to come, and offering solutions that enable customers to live a more sustainable live at home is one step on the way.
