Ikano Health week 2024
For the ninth time since 2016, we’ve completed our annual Ikano Health week. Co-workers from all across Ikano Group have come together to spend time on our physical and mental health, while at the same time collecting hours towards a donation for a good cause. In this week of togetherness we’ve seen unprecedented results, with a wooping 3574 co-workers participating in different types of exercise throughout the week. The collected hours are rewarded with a donation of EUR 30 per hour, with a maximum donation of EUR 150,000. So far we’ve always surpassed the goal, and this year is no exception!
New Health week feature – Ikano Bike fundraiser!
Last year, we premiered our very first Ikano Bike fundraiser and this year we incorporated it into our Health week. 16 enthusiastic cyclists took on the challenge of a lifetime when they embarked on a 600 km ride from Asker, Norway, on 26 August 2024. On 30 August, the cyclists arrived in Älmhult with a big check to hand over to Mrs. Berta Kamprad’s Cancer Foundation, contributing to their important work supporting research and treatment of cancer diseases.

3574 Ikano co-workers
Never before have we seen such engagement and this year we more than doubled the number of co-workers who joined in on the fun and and focused on their health for a good cause.
Together, we spent 12,191 hours exercising and doing mental health activities. We slightly increased the percentage of mental health hours, from 22 % last year to 24 % this year. In total, we spent 2350 hours focusing on our mental wellbeing, which in some offices included the possibility to try mindfulness and box breathing through VR. 9841 hours were spent on our physical health, with activities ranging between solitary runs and department wide activities involving bouncy castles and skateboards.
Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we’re able to make a donation of EUR 150,000, contributing to giving migrant children in Thailand access to education in their own language.
Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation project: Tak Border Child Assistance in Thailand
Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation works with several project countries around the world, and reaches around 220,000 children, teachers and parents on four continents every year. Their main focus is always on children and improving the quality of education and child protection, raising environmental awareness, integrating children into the school system and promoting tolerance towards minorities.
The Tak Border Child Assistance project in Thailand focuses on giving migrant children access to education in their own language. Children from ethnic minorities in Thailand have had problems performing well in school, both due to the language barrier and because of cultural differences. Specifically, life in the Burmese-Thai border area is shaped by the Karen culture and language, and the Tak project trains teachers in intercultural and native language teaching. Thanks to this training, the students learn more about their own cultures, as well as cultures that are foreign to them. This leads to a diverse and understanding community.
We’re so happy to be able to contribute to this important project, giving these children hopes of a brighter future. We look forward to following up with Pestalozzi Children’s Foundation in a few months to get an update on the project!
