Ingvar Kamprad has passed away
It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our company founder, Ingvar Kamprad, has passed away. He died peacefully at his home in Småland on Saturday night, 27th January, surrounded by his closest family. He was 91 years old.
Ingvar was one of the great entrepreneurs of our time, never ceasing to take genuine interest in all parts of the businesses that he founded. No matter how big or small the detail, his ideas were grounded on the firm belief that things could always be improved or done differently. And many times, the best ideas were the simplest.
Ingvar was born in 1926 and he grew-up on a farm in Småland, southern Sweden. In 1943, at the young age of 17 he founded the mail order firm IKEA, which has since grown into a successful home furnishing business with hundreds of thousands of co-workers world-wide.
During the eighties, the three groups of companies we know today, INGKA, Inter IKEA and Ikano, were established and Ingvar retired from his executive positions. Ingvar served as Senior Advisor of Ikano Group Board until 2013.
Ingvar is mourned by his four children, their families and many, many friends. Our thoughts go to the Kamprad family.

CEO of Ikano Group
